Keylor Navas is named Costa Rica’s most popular player at the Qatar 2022 World Cup – as Ronaldo Crowned World Cup Influencer King

In the Costa Rican, Qatar World Cup 2022, squad, the 3-time UEFA Champions League Winner Keylor Navas, is the most followed Costa Rican player on social media, with 32.30 million followers, well ahead of compatriots Joel Campbell (2.48 million) and Ticos legend Bryan Ruiz (1.86 million). Navas has the 3rd largest audience among GK’s at the World Cup, only behind Allison (32.30 million), and Manuel Neuer (39.80 million). The combined 26-man Costa Rican squad totals (40.25 million), ahead of their CONCACAF rivals the United States (23.11 million). The Costa Rican FA has an audience of 1.13 million. The Portuguese forward has been confirmed as the most followed player at the World Cup across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, recording an amazing 747.1 million followers across the platforms. He pips Argentina captain Lionel Messi (476 million) and Brazil star Neymar Jr (337.5 million) to the title, giving the three players a combined social media reach of well in excess of one billion globally.

To put this into perspective, Ronaldo’s following is more than 4.5 times larger than the combined following of the England squad (164 million). You would have to fill England’s Wembley Stadium’s 90,000 capacity over 8,000 times to reach close to the number of people who follow Ronaldo on social media.
