“I have known Peter McLean for 30 years. We met through his and PMPR’s global public relations work for AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races.

During my 30-year association with Peter and PMPR, I have found he and his team to be the utmost professionals. PMPR were the PR agency for AIMS, but they delivered far more than public relations.

PMPR provided the most professional of services, enabling AIMS to spread news from the marathon industry to media sources worldwide. This was during a key period when marathon running held less of a profile than is currently the case, making it more challenging to attract media coverage. Peter was very successful in generating global coverage and share of voice in a challenging competitive sports news environment.

In particular, Peter was front and centre at AIMS’s premier annual event in Athens, Greece from 2010. This was a weekend of high activity, including an AIMS Gala and Awards Dinner, AIMS Symposium and the annual Athens Marathon – the Authentic. Peter’s professionalism shone through as he ensured all the news from these activities was shared and published around the world.

Peter delivered far more to AIMS than a PR service. One example was in 2007 when AIMS commissioned PMPR to investigate and prepare a report on sponsorship. PMPR tabled a comprehensive report, providing AIMS with a pathway to expanding its sponsorship reach. PMPR introduced some exciting concepts on alternate ways to increase sponsorship and provide alternate sources of income for AIMS.

Peter and PMPR also managed the annual awards for the World Athlete of the Year- the Golden Shoe and AIMS/Citizen World Record awards. Peter had to frequently manage complex arrangements to ensure that the recipients of the awards were presented with their award at an appropriate occasion and the media coverage was again achieved worldwide. This involved working closely with athlete agents and race directors, managing issues surrounding conflicting sponsorships, athlete availability and other logistics.

I have no hesitation in recommending Peter and PMPR for any work in the public relations field.”
